The Wallace Collection is a national museum displaying the art collections brought together by the first four marquesses of Hertford and Sir Richard Wallace. The collections were bequeathed to the British nation in 1897 by Lady Wallace, Sir Richard’s widow. It is housed in Hertford House the former townhouse of the Seymour family, Marquesses of Hertford. The museum opened to the public in 1900.
